Questions about the bill

Why don’t I receive a combined bill for my advertising and my listings on local.ch?

Listings are billed for the period 1 January to 31 December, while advertising products are billed at the time your advertising is published.

I have noticed a charge for local.ch listings on my Swisscom bill. I have never ordered anything from local.ch. What am I being billed for?

You are charged for registering, changing and publishing additional listings in the official telephone directories. Prior to 1 January 2011, you were billed for this service by Swisscom Directories AG. All Swisscom Directories AG products now appear under the local.ch brand.

I have never signed a contract for the local.ch listings for which I have been billed. How did this contractual relationship emerge?

In most cases, initial contact is made via telephone, e-mail, fax or letter. Once your chosen listings have been confirmed, you receive written confirmation of your listing status. From this time, you are granted a 14-day guarantee period in writing in which to cancel and/or amend the service. The contract will take effect unless we hear otherwise from you.

I received a bill from local.ch along with my Swisscom bill but did not receive a payment slip. How should I settle the bill?

The charge for local.ch services is included in the total stated on your Swisscom bill. When you pay your Swisscom bill, the local.ch bill is also paid automatically.

For which periods are listing costs billed?

Registering or changing a listing incurs a one-time charge per new registration or change. Annually recurring publication fees are billed from 1 January to 31 December of the current year.

How can I find out which listings I am being billed for?

You can request a detailed overview by phone on 0848 86 80 86 from Monday to Friday between 7.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. or by sending an email to customercare@local.ch.

A monthly period has been noted on my Swisscom bill. Do I have to start paying the local.ch charge monthly?

No. This amount is to be paid once (new registration or change) or on an annual basis (publication). The monthly period applies for Swisscom services which are billed to you by Swisscom.

My Swisscom bill – which also contains the local.ch bill – includes a telephone number which is not allowed to be published. Will this number appear in the phone book?

Swisscom defines a main number as a billing number for your telephone subscription. This number does not necessarily have to be published in your listings. Check your published listings online at www.local.ch or contact us (0848 86 80 86 or customercare@local.ch)

My billing address is out of date or incorrect. How can I change this?

If you are charged for our service by Swisscom, please contact Swisscom on the freephone number 0800 800 800. If you received the bill directly from local.ch, please contact us between 7.30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, on 0848 86 80 86 or email us at customercare@local.ch

My bill contains the term “pro rata”. What does this mean?

Annually recurring publication fees for your existing additional listings are billed for the entire publication year from 1 January to 31 December. In the case of new additional listings which have not been published from the start of a year, we only bill the remaining days of the year from the date of publication. This billing method is known as “pro rata”.

I have recently received a bill from local.ch for a registration/change. Now I have received another bill for the cost of publication (publication charges). Why have I been sent two bills?

The costs billed to you reflect the registration/change of a listing. These costs are only billed once at the time the listing is registered or changed. The annual publication fees for your additional listings are billed when the phone book containing your listing is published.

The amount stated on my bill for local.ch advertising does not tally with the amount on the contract. What is the reason for this?

The prices listed on the contracts are always net prices. VAT is also listed on this bill.

I have a contract for several advertising products. Why don’t I receive a bill for the total amount of all my local.ch advertising products?

As we bill our services by product and not by contract, you will receive multiple bills. The reason for this is that the publication dates for your products may vary and we bill each product at the time of publication.

The product description for my advertising contains an incorrect address. How can I change this?

The address in the product description relates to the placement of your product (secondary office, branch, etc.) in our directories. This does not necessarily have to be the head office or private address.

Four years ago I signed a three-year contract for ads. The three-year period expired last year. Why have I received a bill for my advertising?

Contracts for ads in our printed directories are not concluded per year but rather per issue. This means that your ad is published in three book issues. The bill you have received is for the third and final issue.

I have received a bill for an advertising product. I do not wish to have this advertising product next year. Do I have to cancel it myself?

As a general rule, contracts are automatically terminated on expiry of the contract term and do not have to be cancelled by you. Advance termination before the expiry of the agreed contract term is only possible in exceptional circumstances. In such cases, please send your cancellation request together with the relevant supporting documentation to local.ch, Thurgauerstrasse 40, 8052 Zurich.

I signed a contract for an advertising product several weeks ago. Why have I only just received the bill?

The bill is only sent once your chosen product has been published in our directories.
